BY-LAWS

Our organization is made up of committees working together to reach common goals.
Members serve on one committee each year.

Community Relations Committee acts as a liaison between NAMC and the community. This increases the community's awareness of our organization in order to make fund raising and overall support of our goals easier. The committee has been involved in the following projects:

  • Halloween Party is sponsored by NAMC. It is open to all North Aurora preschool and grade school children. Admission is free. Over 350 children participated in the Halloween Party in 2005.
  • North Aurora Baseball Parade is sponsored by NAMC and the North Aurora Baseball Association. The event showcases our youth baseball teams and consists of floats, public officials and other parade favorites.

Philanthropy Committee supports service programs and philanthropic activities of the club. It also makes the recommendations of organizations to receive the funds raised by NAMC. Since its inception in 1997, NAMC has disbursed over $150,000. This committee also manages the following programs:

  • Family in Need provides food (donated by NAMC members and the community) and up to $250 in groceries or other services.
  • Hands-On Program The committee selects a program in our community that we can assist through volunteer or "hands-on" help instead of monetary assistance.

Operation Christmas Committee coordinates donations of gifts and money that are collected from our community and distributed to families in need. 35 families were served by Operation Christmas in 2001.

Ways & Means Committee is responsible for the fundraising activities throughout the year. Every member is required to participate in each fund-raiser in some capacity. Some of our activities include:

  • Entertainment Book Sale starts in September. The books are full of coupons for services and goods for different local regions.
  • Annual Winter Fundraiser occurs in February and is our biggest fund-raiser of the year; over $11,000 was raised in 2002. Included in this dinner/dance are many raffles and a silent auction.
  • North Aurora Days are on the first weekend in August. We co-sponsor the evening festivities with the NAFD and receive a percentage of the proceeds raised from the sale of beverages.

Membership Committee welcomes new members into the club and encourages the membership to grow. It also provides support and guidance to new members. Women are welcome to join at anytime. NAMC also holds an informational meeting in September. NAMC has over 80 members.

Member Support coordinates the support needs for club members and their families. This may include sending cards, organizing meal planning for members in need and donating a book in honor of each new baby born within the club. Member support also sends a monthly newsletter to members to keep them informed about club announcements, events, and special interest items.

Playgroup provides opportunities to form playgroups for members and their children. It also plans many activities involving members' children.

Social Committee plans adult and family outings for the club members including the club Christmas party and year-end banquet.

Hostess Committee is responsible for arranging the facilities and coordinating refreshments for our meetings held the 1st Tuesday of each month (September - May).

Publicity Committee is responsible for releasing information and publicizing all club activities and events.

Historical Committee records the current and historical events in photo albums and scrapbooks. They collect and compile photos of all key events.
